There are countless exciting destinations to explore around Grömitz. Depending on the wind direction, guide Reinhard Bendfeldt selects the destination. Heiligenhafen, the Oldenburg Wall Museum, and Eutin with its impressive open-air theater are just a few examples.
Our Tips for great bike routes
The tour begins right at the entrance to Grömitz with the Schneekloth Fruit Farm—a true family hotspot that promises fun in nature no matter the weather. In addition to fresh cherries, raspberries, apples, and Grömitz honey, the farm offers other regional delicacies as part of its country-style breakfast, as well as homemade cakes and pies for those with a sweet tooth. Children can even explore the large orchard on a pony.
At the Scheunencafé and Hofladen Hagen, located between Grömitz and Cismar, guests on a bike tour around Grömitz can look forward to petting animals, a beautiful barn, and a cozy courtyard garden. Here, you can fully enjoy a lovely summer day with a cup of coffee and a slice of cream cake.
Speaking of coffee: Have you heard of Backside Coffee? Right in Dünenpark, you can enjoy a cup of freshly roasted coffee here and let your gaze wander toward the distant horizon. American treats like apple pie or New York cheesecake are well worth the indulgence. It’s the perfect starting point to set off on a bike tour of the region, feeling refreshed and energized.
The Mougin Farm, just before Cismar, not only offers a rustic atmosphere but also plenty of delicacies such as homemade pies and cakes, fresh strawberries, and asparagus. This family-run business even offers vacation rentals for a true farm stay. Nearby, in Grube, you’ll find the Dat Achtere Rahland farm café: while enjoying a friendly chat, you can feast on the full range of northern cuisine on the sunny farm terrace and then stock up in the small shop on whatever tasted especially good or looks particularly appealing.
The Klostersee Organic Farm also offers idyllic accommodations and regional organic products. This sustainable farm is located just 2.5 km from a beautiful natural sandy beach, and right behind it lies the Kellenhusener Forest with its ancient oak trees. In addition to fresh pastries and breads every day, you’ll even find a cheese dairy on the sprawling grounds. Our suggestion: First, feast; then stretch your legs; and then just keep feasting.
In the neighboring town of Kellenhusen, “Mudder” Holstein offers a wide selection of local and Schleswig-Holstein foods. From the perfect ingredients for breakfast to everything you need for a barbecue, locals and tourists alike will find everything their culinary hearts desire here.
Don’t feel like biking quite that far? Then why not stop by the Bauer Böckmann farm stand in Cismar and pick up some fresh eggs, apples, potatoes, or strawberries to take home? You’ll also find a beautiful selection of flowers and decorations to admire here. Another regional highlight awaits you nearby: at the Grimm Apple Farm, wonderfully juicy apples ripen in the Baltic Sea climate. Here, the coastal apples grow under natural conditions—and that’s exactly how they taste. You definitely shouldn’t miss this. Tip: The fresh apple juice is also available in a 5-liter bulk pack to take home.
The Schütt Vegetable Farm in Lensterbek offers an abundance of crisp, homegrown vegetables. From the five large greenhouses and the farm’s fields, it’s just a short walk to the small farm shop—here, you know exactly where your food comes from. For 56 years, the Schütt family has been dedicated to growing vegetables—this family-run farm is always worth a visit.
