Culture in Grömitz
Cultural Excursion IdeasCulture is in the air—both in Grömitz and the surrounding area. Here, you can easily trace over 200 years of cultural history and discover places where the past and present intertwine. Amid historic facades and modern influences, Grömitz offers a wealth of sights to explore.
Lighthouse ahead! Grömitz has more to offer than just sun, sand, and nature. The striking lighthouse in Grömitz not only guides ships, but also marks a place full of surprises, cultures, and attractions for all vacationers. Take, for example, Cismar Abbey. As part of Schleswig-Holstein’s second-largest abbey complex, it features impressive walls and green spaces to admire. Various museums bring these stories to life, allowing visitors to experience them firsthand.
Here is an overview of some tips on places of interest in Grömitz and the surrounding area:
The Dahmeshöved Lighthouse was built in 1878–79 halfway between Fehmarn and Travemünde. It is located on a prominent coastal promontory and was built on an elevated piece of land known as a “höved.”
For many decades, the lighthouse has served as an important navigational aid for ships in the Baltic Sea. With its distinctive appearance and bright light, it has always been an impressive landmark along the coast. The Dahmeshöved Lighthouse is not only a significant maritime symbol but also a popular destination for visitors who wish to enjoy the picturesque surroundings and the breathtaking view of the Baltic Sea.
