55 Senior Citizens Enjoy a Sailing Trip on the “Loth Lorien”
On Wednesday, July 22, 55 senior citizens from the town of Grömitz accepted an invitation from the Grömitz Tourism Service to take a free sailing trip on the three-masted ship “Loth Lorien.” Once again this year, spots for the popular outing were snapped up in no time.
Given the weather forecast and the predicted strong breeze, some participants were initially curious to see just how “sea-worthy” the tour would be. However, the feared rough conditions largely failed to materialize. With a brisk breeze and the ever-changing Baltic Sea weather, the seniors from the Senior Citizens’ Advisory Council were able to enjoy the roughly two-hour cruise to the fullest.
Only two brief spells of drizzle caused a slight interruption. While some guests made themselves comfortable in the cabin or sought shelter under the tarp, those who were truly weather-beaten weren’t fazed by the brief rain and simply enjoyed the cruise in their rain jackets and hoods.
After about two hours, the group outing came to an end. With many wonderful memories and in high spirits, the seniors returned to shore.
