DGzRS Invites You to Sea Rescue Day
The German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS) is hosting its popular Maritime Rescue Day this year on July 26. Demonstrations, drills, and discussions are planned at many DGzRS rescue stations along the North Sea and Baltic Sea coasts. The main Sea Rescue Day event traditionally takes place on the last Sunday in July; this year marks its 28th edition.
Many DGzRS stations will demonstrate their operational readiness on site and welcome everyone who supports the sea rescue service and is interested in their donation-funded work. Planned activities include demonstrations and drills in the harbors and just off the coast, as well as discussions at the rescue units’ moorings, information vans, and booths.
The varied program includes presentations on rescue techniques, man-overboard drills, and demonstrations by rescue units off the coast. Rides aboard some vessels are also available, provided rescue operations permit. Of course, all rescue units remain on standby even on Sea Rescue Day. The DGzRS is confident it will once again welcome numerous guests. Last year, more than 40,000 people attended.

The website also lists the stations where the event will take place on a different date due to local conditions (such as tidal conditions or other major events). Schedule in Grömitz (10 a.m. to approx. 5 p.m.):
- Open Ship on the sea-rescue cruiser, the sea-rescue boats HENRICH WUPPESAHL (Neustadt Station) and ERICH KOSCHUBS (Travemünde Station), as well as the training boats CHRISTOPH LANGNER, MERVI, and other vessels
- Guided rescue drills in the harbor and demonstrations of rescue equipment and techniques.
