Grömitz Cleans Up: Working Together for a Clean Beach on Coastal Cleanup Day

A clean beach starts with lots of helping hands: On September 19, Grömitz will participate in Coastal Cleanup Day and invites everyone to pitch in and help clear the beach of trash and debris. Starting at 3:00 p.m., all nature lovers are cordially invited to join the beach cleanup around the beach house. The cleanup will be supported by the Flens BeachTech.

An upcycling workshop will take place at the beach house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. During the workshop, participants will create new, creative items from seemingly useless materials. The workshop offers a great opportunity to explore the topic of sustainability even before the beach cleanup.

The beach cleanup is part of the Best of Baltic initiative. This sustainability movement advocates for a more mindful approach to the Baltic Sea region and brings together people and partners who are committed to protecting the coastline. The Grömitz Tourism Service is a project partner of Best of Baltic.

The meeting point for the beach cleanup is the beach house at Kurpromenade 20. Trash bags and litter pickers will be provided on site. In addition, the Flens BeachTech will be used. This innovative beach-cleaning machine removes both coarse and fine debris, cleaning the sand not only on the surface but also deep down.

Once the work is done, the hard-working volunteers can look forward to a well-deserved cold Flens or another refreshing drink of their choice, along with a small snack, starting at 5 p.m.

Lensterstrand, too, will be joining in the Coastal Cleanup Day cleanup effort. The meeting point is at 3 p.m. at the Lenste Water Sports Association at Mittelweg 149.

Anyone who wants to help keep our beaches clean and preserve the Baltic Sea coastline is warmly invited to join us and take a stand together to protect our coastline.
