Coastal Exchange Between Büsum and Grömitz

Why always look so far afield when your next vacation adventure is waiting right on the other coast? The Grömitz Tourism Service and Tourismus Marketing Service Büsum GmbH are exploring exactly this question with a joint campaign: the “Coastal Exchange.”

Starting September 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., residents and employees from Grömitz and Büsum can book a short getaway to the other coast—at exclusive special rates (modeled after the LTM’s “change of scenery” program). Under the motto “Get away for a bit and get to know the other coast,” selected hotels in Grömitz and Büsum invite you to change your perspective for a few days. Because even though Grömitz is on the Baltic Sea and Büsum is on the North Sea, both coastal towns have one thing in common: they know how wonderful a vacation by the sea can be. The Coast Swap is all about discovering the unique features of the other coast and finding new favorite spots.

“We probably know our own coastline pretty well. But when was the last time we consciously visited the other one? With the ‘Coastal Exchange,’ that’s exactly what we’d like to invite you to do: simply switch sides for a change, get away from your daily routine, and discover the North Sea or the Baltic Sea with fresh eyes—and all at especially favorable rates. At the same time, we see this offer as a small token of appreciation and a special bonus for the people who call our coasts home,” explains Sven Kalbfleisch, marketing director at TMS Büsum.

For Grömitz, too, the initiative offers an opportunity to strengthen the connection between the two coastal regions. “Tourism thrives on encounters and new perspectives. The Coastal Exchange brings two vibrant coastal areas together while also creating opportunities for the people who live and work here,” adds Manfred Wohnrade, operations manager at Tourismus-Service Grömitz. “Through this campaign, we’re offering participating hotels another platform for promotion and specifically helping them secure bookings during less busy travel periods.”

Accommodations at the "Coastal Exchange" rate

Selected hotels in both towns are participating in the promotion. In Büsum, eight hotels are participating, offering stays starting at 45 or 55 euros per person per night in a double room, including breakfast. In Grömitz, nine hotels are participating, and rooms can also be booked there for 45 or 55 euros per person per night in a double room, including breakfast.

This offer is exclusively for residents and employees in the ZIP codes 23743 (Grömitz, including outlying villages) and 25761 (Büsum and surrounding communities). Bookings for the “Coastal Exchange” can be made starting September 1, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., exclusively online at www.kuestentausch.de. The travel period runs from November 1 through December 20, 2026, and is subject to availability. One room can be booked for a maximum of three nights per booking contact and travel period.

Whether it’s the North Sea or the Baltic Sea—a “coast swap” is an invitation to take a brief break from everyday life and get to know the other coast. A walk on the beach, fresh sea air, a new favorite restaurant, or simply a few days away from the daily grind: Sometimes you don’t need to travel far to take a little break.
