A new emergency call box has been installed on the Klostersee beach in Grömitz!
A modern emergency call box has now been installed at the popular Klostersee beach in Grömitz. It was donated by the Björn Steiger Foundation and is part of a nationwide project to improve emergency response along bodies of water. The kiosk enables beachgoers to call for help quickly and easily in critical situations. The initiative is supported by the German Life-Saving Association (DLRG), which has been actively involved in the project from the start.
The red-and-white column is clearly visible at the entrance to the beach and is directly connected to the regional emergency dispatch center via a built-in LTE module. At the push of a button, an emergency call is initiated, transmitting both the voice connection and the exact location. Thanks to a built-in solar panel, the column is self-sufficient in terms of energy and is ready for use around the clock.
With the installation in Grömitz, the Björn Steiger Foundation continues its mission to improve safety along Germany’s coasts, lakes, and rivers. Several hundred of these systems have already been installed nationwide. Especially at heavily frequented swimming areas, quick access to professional help can be crucial—whether in the event of swimming accidents, medical emergencies, or other critical situations.
