Grömitz, a Baltic Sea resort: The number of overnight stays in 2025 will surpass the 2 million mark for the first time!

The number of visitors and overnight stays in the Baltic Sea resort of Grömitz once again surpassed the record figures of previous years in 2025. “According to the latest statistics, we’ve reached 2 million overnight stays, spread across 365,500 guests,” says Manfred Wohnrade, operations manager at Tourismus-Service Grömitz. “This marks the first time we’ve surpassed the 2 million mark, and we’re incredibly proud of that.” People in Grömitz are particularly pleased with the positive figures, as last year was once again marked by price increases and inflation, which could well have had a negative impact on guests’ travel behavior. “Our investments in tourism infrastructure, high-quality events throughout the year, and marketing are paying off.” The visitor and overnight stay figures show that Grömitz is one of the top destinations on the German Baltic Sea coast all year round.

The growth seen in April and June is particularly encouraging, as it shows that the tourism service can boost the off-season through events and new tourism offerings. “In those two months, we welcomed nearly 20,000 more guests than last year. Of course, this is also related to the timing of the Easter holidays,” explains Wohnrade. During the summer vacation in July, there was a slight decline in visitor and overnight stay numbers, which may also be due to the rainy weather that month. In August, however, there was an increase of just under 11% in visitor numbers and 8% in overnight stays. [nbsp]

Overall, Grömitz saw a slight increase in both visitor numbers and overnight stays in 2025 compared to 2024. The Grömitz Tourism Service reports a 2% increase in overnight stays and a 2.65% increase in visitor numbers. “We are very pleased that we were able to break the 2 million mark for overnight stays for the first time and build on the positive results from 2024.” Of course, the Grömitz Tourism Service does not intend to rest on its laurels and will continue to invest in its offerings for guests in the coming years. “Modern attractions for the whole family, especially during the winter months, are extremely important for further growth during this time. We are therefore already looking forward to the opening of the ‘Dünenwelten’ at the ‘Dünenpark’ this summer, which will feature an indoor play area, a bowling alley, and state-of-the-art event spaces.” Other projects the Tourism Service plans to implement in the coming years include the renovation of the pier forecourt, the construction of a permanent stage at the “Kurpark,” the renovation of the playground and the expansion of the bocce court at the “Kurpark,” the renovation of public restroom facilities along the promenade, and the construction of a new restroom facility at the marina.
