Tobedüne, Dune Bowling, and the Dune Stage are just a stone's throw away

The Tourism Service and the Municipality of Grömitz are celebrating the topping-out ceremony for the “Dünenwelten” multifunctional building at the “Dünenpark” on the promenade

Dünenpark, located on the Grömitz promenade, has been very popular for some time now. The Surf Rescue Club—which serves as a hostel with DLRG accommodations—the SO[U]L Beach Club, and the numerous shops and restaurants invite visitors to relax and enjoy themselves. One final, very important component of the complex is in the home stretch: the “Dünenwelten” multifunctional building, allowing the topping-out ceremony to be celebrated on January 16 together with Claus Ruhe Madsen, Minister of Economy, Transportation, Labor, Technology, and Tourism.

“Since the groundbreaking ceremony for the ‘Dünenpark’ on July 14, 2021, a fantastic new center has taken shape right here on the beachfront,” says Manfred Wohnrade, operations manager of Tourismus-Service Grömitz. [nbsp]“Residents and visitors alike enjoy strolling through the shops, sipping coffee with a view of the Baltic Sea, and are impressed by the new, modern offerings.” With the topping-out ceremony on January 16, the final piece of the “Dünenpark” puzzle is officially in the home stretch and is set to open its doors this summer: the multifunctional “Dünenwelten” building. “With our Dünenwelten, we’re taking a very important step toward strengthening the off-season in Grömitz. Here, we’re creating a reliable, weather-independent, modern destination for travelers year-round. With our large indoor play area, the ‘Tobedüne,’ we’ll soon be offering an additional attraction for families on rainy days.” The ‘Tobedüne’ will consist of an XXL beach landscape and will bring Grömitz’s natural features to life in a playful and action-packed way, allowing young guests to hide in oversized buckets, climb on crabs, or slide through seashells. Accessible play equipment will also be available. “Right next to the play area, our four bowling lanes will not only let you bowl the traditional way but also enjoy interactive games projected onto the lanes,” explains Wohnrade. On the upper floor of Dünenwelten, there will be a state-of-the-art event space that can seat up to 300 people and offers a unique view of the Baltic Sea. “The space not only allows us to host numerous tourist events but also makes Grömitz an attractive destination for group and business travelers, as it is ideally suited for conventions, meetings, and conferences.”

Claus Ruhe Madsen, Minister of Economic Affairs, Transportation, Labor, Technology, and Tourism, personally inspected the current status of construction work at the topping-out ceremony and emphasized: “The Dune Worlds are another important element in making Grömitz an attractive vacation destination year-round. Some of our guests certainly enjoy taking a walk on the beach even in rain and storms, but many prefer to keep their feet dry. Grömitz offers ideal conditions for this, thereby boosting the entire tourism sector in Schleswig-Holstein. The state has always supported the municipality in its efforts, and we have also provided 8.3 million euros in funding for this project.”

The Dünenwelten project marks the completion of the “Dünenpark” initiative by the Grömitz Tourism Service. The total investment in the multifunctional building amounts to 12.5 million euros, with 8.3 million euros in funding provided by the state of Schleswig-Holstein.
