The local tourism organizations (LTOs) Fehmarn, OstseeSpitze, and OstseeFerienLand are working together to advance the development of regional value chains. As part of a project funded by the LAG AktivRegion Wagrien-Fehmarn e.V.*, the feasibility study “Jointly Marketing Regional Products” was launched.

Their names are synonymous with speed in the water, precision in rescue, and world-class athletic success: The athletes on the national lifesaving team won 13 medals last year at the World Games in China. The German Life Saving Association (DLRG), which serves as the governing body for lifesaving sports and fields the national team, is bestowing a special honor on its successful athletes: All medalists will sponsor a motorized rescue boat for the DLRG’s water rescue service on the North Sea and Baltic Sea. On Tuesday (May 19), Lena Oppermann and Felix Hofmann were the first to send their boats out for the swimming season. Following their christening on the beach at Grömitz, the rescue boats are set to serve the volunteer lifeguards at the water rescue station in Heiligenhafen well this summer.

The impressive three-masted schooner LOTH LORIËN is stopping in Grömitz once again. Starting May 17, it’s time to “cast off” once more for regular sailing trips departing from the pier.

The Grömitz Comprehensive School is making school history: On Wednesday, April 29, it became the first school in the Ostholstein district to be officially recognized as a Best of Baltic School (BoB School). With the presentation of the official Best of Baltic plaque by the Grömitz Tourism Service—which, through the OstseeFerienLand project, is a partner in the Interreg project “Best of Baltic”—the school is sending a strong message about active international cooperation, sustainability, and regional engagement.

As the 2026 season kicks off, the Grömitz Marina has reason to celebrate a fantastic award. As part of a scientific study conducted by YACHT, over 95,000 customer reviews from all over Germany were analyzed—the goal was to find out where boat owners feel most at home.
