The Tourism Service and the Municipality of Grömitz celebrate the topping-out ceremony for the “Dünenwelten” multifunctional building at the “Dünenpark” on the promenade

The number of visitors and overnight stays in the Baltic Sea resort of Grömitz once again surpassed the record figures of previous years in 2025. “According to the latest statistics, we’ve reached 2 million overnight stays, spread across 365,500 guests,” says Manfred Wohnrade, operations manager at Tourismus-Service Grömitz. “This is the first time we’ve surpassed the 2 million mark, and we’re incredibly proud of that.” People in Grömitz are particularly pleased with the positive figures, as last year was once again marked by price increases and inflation, which could well have had a negative impact on guests’ travel behavior. “Our investments in tourism infrastructure, high-quality events throughout the year, and marketing are paying off.” The visitor and overnight stay figures show that Grömitz is one of the top destinations on the German Baltic Sea coast all year round.

"It's finally happening!" says Franc Grimm from the INB at the University of Lübeck. Best of Baltic—or "BoB," as it's better known—has kicked off. A few years ago, students came up with the idea as part of a German-Danish project, and now it's becoming a reality as part of a three-year EU Interreg project.

The two headliners for the 2026 Sonne, Strand und Sterne Festival in Grömitz have been announced: Clueso and arguably the best acts of the ’90s will rock the main stage on the beach next to the pier on Saturday and Sunday. But of course, the stage won’t be empty from Wednesday through Friday either, ensuring a festive atmosphere for young and old alike.
