Shopping & Strolling in Grömitz
Pockets full and smiles on their facesBrowse the shops along the beach promenade in Grömitz: After all, our most beautiful shopping street is, of course, the 3.5-kilometer-long promenade stretching from the dog beach in the north to the marina in the south. With numerous restaurants, cafés, and snack bars, it offers plenty of opportunities to feast along the way—and in the middle section, to shop in Grömitz as well! If you’re looking to treat yourself to something stylish for the evening or something practical for your sailing trip, you’ll find what you’re looking for in several fashion boutiques in Grömitz.
A stroll through the town center, the “Grömitz Pedestrian Zone,” is definitely worth it. From Kirchenstraße to Wicheldorfstraße and on to Seestraße, there are plenty of interesting shops to discover.
Shopping in Grömitz on Sunday
From March 15 through October 31, 2026, our stores will be open for you every Sunday and on public holidays. This is when the so-called “resort regulation” applies. Under this regulation, stores are permitted to open on Sundays and public holidays. However, this is subject to the condition that the location must be a tourist destination in Schleswig-Holstein. Good Friday and Christmas Day are excluded from this special regulation. On May 1, sales are permitted only if the store owner personally conducts the sales while all employees are excused from work.
This means that for a good eight months, stores in Grömitz will be able to open for six hours on Sundays and holidays. This regulation is in effect until October 31, as well as from December 17, 2026, through January 8, 2027.
Further information can be found in the “State Regulation on the Sale of Goods on Sundays and Public Holidays in Spa, Recreation, and Tourist Resorts”:

Sundays When Stores Are Open in 2026
In addition to the regular spa season schedule, there are special Sunday shopping days on February 15 and November 1. On these days, stores in the OstseeFerienLand region (Dahme, Grömitz, Kellenhusen, Grube, and Lensahn) may open from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
